Washington State Camping

Washington State camping offers a huge diversity of sites, and among them, San Juan Island's camping and campgrounds are among the most unique. The best months are between April and October, for the most part. You can set up your site, then explore the rest of the Island, coming back for an evening campfire, and maybe even a dinner cooked over the flames. Or make your site your home base, staying in the park to relax and just enjoy being there. You will find rustic tent sites as well as fully furnished, plush, wooden-floored 'tents,' and everything in between.

There are sites near the water, either the sound or a lake, including drive-up sites, and many accessible only by hikers or bicycles. There is nothing as lovely as falling asleep to the sound of chirping tree frogs, or, if you are lucky, passing whales. San Juan Island camping can be all of this. Read on and follow the links for more information.

There are three swimming areas, and paddle boats, row boats, and canoe rentals.

You might want to try "glamorous" camping, known as Glamping. Glamping is similar to camping because you sleep outdoors but that's as far as the comparison goes -- glamping offers certain luxuries. In this case, Lakedale Resort's canvas cabins are rentable tents with wooden floors, beds with cotton bedding and down comforters, cordless lanterns, and a table with four chairs. That's what I'm talking about!
