The Washington State Parks of the San Juan Islands are beautiful, fun places, perfect spots for picnics, playing, and relaxing. There are infinite things to see and do including hiking, kayaking, cycling, skateboarding, beach combing, or just sitting to enjoy the moment.

You can watch whales at Lime Kiln Park, spend the night at San Juan County Park, hike at Mt. Young above English Camp Historical Park, or simply relax on a Family Park bench. A visit to any of the San Juan Island Parks will be enjoyable and gratifying. Get a look at some of the other parks on the Islands: Lime Kiln Park is possibly THE best land-based place to watch whales, anywhere on the planet!

San Juan Island Family Park is a great place for a party or family dinner.

Any one of the skateboarding parks offer both entertainment and exercise -- there are parks on San Juan, Orcas, and Lopez Islands.

San Juan County Park is for day use or overnight camping, plus trails and a kayak launch area. This is the park where the movie,"Practical Magic" was filmed.

American Camp National Historic Park on the south end is wide open grassland, perfect for kite flying, while English Camp National Historic Park has trails, a formal garden, and a couple HUGE oak trees.

Moran State Park on Orcas Island is spectacular, with trails, lakes for fishing, and overnight camping on more than 5000 acres.

Other parks include the Westcott Bay Sculpture Park, with a collection of rotating sculptures connected by meandering paths.
Visit Reuben Tarte Memorial Park on the north end of San Juan Island, near Roche Harbor, and the Sunken Park, right in downtown Friday Harbor, is a fun place to have lunch or spend some time having fun with the kids while you wait for a ferry.

Turn Point County Day Park

Turn Point County Day Park is a small park with a launch for kayaks and canoes. Parking area is above the beach, and boats have to be carried to the launch point. Sort of an out of the way beach, often used as the launch for the short trip to Turn Island, a wildlife refuge.

There are many, many park-like settings in the Islands -- take a look around! Washington State Parks are just a few among the thousands of wonderful American State Parks we can all enjoy. Keep on traveling!
